Effect of silicate mud on XC Reamer screens

Hi folks

At this week's DWOP, one of the break-out groups highlighted the possibility for silicate mud to block the screens in the XC reamer (a percentage of flow is directed out the XC reamer and these screens are placed to prevent cuttings back-flowing into the string when circulation is stopped).

Apparently silicate mud has the tendency to produce "toothpaste".

We're not sure if an XC reamer has been run in silicate mud (we would have though so), so we're interested in members experiences:

1.  Have you used an XC reamer in slicate mud?
  •  If so what did you learn ?
  • What additional precautions did you take ?
Thanks

Dave
