RECOMMENDED EUROPEAN OCTG MILLS
09 May 2017
Does anyone have an opinion on some very good OCTG Mills in Europe which are certified for API 5CT and API 5CRA specification for a project we currently have in west africa.
Sandvik is limited to a max of 7in for CRA tubulars, but I believe you'll find that's the case everywhere (though my knowledge base on that is somewhat dated).
As one of the previous posters alluded to, a 'lower' grade such as L-80 is used for larger diameter tubulars that are not directly exposed to highly corrosive fluids ... and I've worked on wells that were spec'd for a minimum of 25-plus years in a 25% H2S environment that used that approach.
Hope that helps.
As Andres has rightly said, Tenaris has the ability to cover your needs; with an extensive product portfolio certified to API 5CT, and partnerships for API 5CRA. Tenaris has mills cut across the various continents, with an OCTG mill also present in Italy, Europe i.e.: Dalmine mill.
In addition, Tenaris has local presence in Nigeria, registered as a Nigerian entity (Tenaris Global Services Nigeria), and with an in-country threading plant in Onne, Rivers state of Nigeria. The Rig Direct model might also be a good fit for your project, relieving you of the stress and inherent costs of storage and logistics, and supplying the pipes right when you need it.
You can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to make contact and discuss in more details.
How about Salzgitter Mannesmann Stainless Tubes France SAS and TUBACEX TUBOS INOXIDABLES, S.A.U./TTI-OCTG PLANT?
Tenaris (www.tenaris.com) has both:
- Carbon Steel OCTG mills in Europe and world wide (2 3/8" - 24" and larger)
- an alliance with Sandvik for Corrosion Resistant Alloys. The Diameter range is limited because typically the CRAs are used in casing/tubing sizez which are in continuous contact with the production/corrosive environment - therefore small diameters.
More than happy if i can further help with details on OCTGs: steel grades, premium connections, aplicability based on specific string design, environmental details, well scope etc.
Thanks James Drouin,
I looked up Sandvik and discovered they are limited in the sizes of Tubulars they manufacture. For Tubulars larger than 7 inch, this mill are unable to manufacture. I really require the full range of casings and tubulars from 24'', 13-3/8'', 9-5/8'', 7'',3-1/2'' and pups.
Assuming you mean a grade with higher corrosion resistance than L80, I believe you will find that Sandvik in Sweden is the only European mill that can produce high-chrome content OCTG.
