Use of a Divertor in tophole off a jackup or platform
13 December 2012 Hi folksAt today's DWOP, we got round to talking about the use of a divertor when drilling top-hole off a jack-up.
There is no history of shallow gas in the region (which has been extensively explored and exploited) and this is a new 6-slot jacket as part of near-field development.
All 6 wells will be drilled, consecutively, using the same rig.
When we challenged the plan to R/U a divertor we were told that "it is company policy".
I'm very interested to hear your views and also the policies that you are working with... and what scope there exists within them to perform a Risk Assessment or MOC (Management of Change)to review this.
Many thanks
Dave
