Early kick detection on a floating rig
01 March 2013I am seeking a simple early kick detection system that can work on a Semi-sub or Drillship rig. To date I have found no simple solution. Trip tanks and traditional pit sensors are not good enough. The next best thing is an overly complicated MPD type rig up with a coriolis meter.
Ideally I´d like a rig-up where something like a coriolis meter can work without the MPD components maybe with some software processing for the heave. I tossed the challenge to some service provides, with no positive response to date.
Anyone out there know of simple and elegant solutions for early kick detection on a floating rig?
