Drilling jar selection

I would like your opinion on drilling jar choices. Do you prefer hydraulic or mechanical drilling jars and why. I am used to using hydraulic jars but I'm trying to increase reliability and believe either a full mechanical or hydraulic with mechanical latch is a better bet for improved reliability in hot hole conditions due to less mandrel movement when drilling.
