Flow Check - Well flows. How do you differentiate between flow from mud ballooning and flow from a hydrocarbon influx
10 December 2025After bullheading 3000bbls of kill mud to push a swabbed liquid oil influx back in to the reservoir the well is shut in. SICP = 0. Lots of ballooning and losses during drilling. Drill bit is off bottom.
Flow check is done and the well flows - How do we tell if this flow is coming from ballooning, or we are taking a further influx? How many bbls should we let flow before we shut-in?
