Versaflex challenges
09 August 2012 Hi folksAt a recent Risk Assessment, the following topics came up :
- The short PBR (ca. 1 m) at the top of the Versaflex hanger -
this is likely to make it very difficult (if not impossible) to set a tie-back packer on top and/or tie back completely to surface on a floating (and heaving) rig. We understand that a few companies have identified this problem and there is mention of a 'bottom PBR', below the hanger itself.
So, what would be nice to know is :- What experience do others have with trying to use the short PBR on a floater ?
- and, what experience with the bottom PBR ?
- Taking cement back to (and across the hanger area).
The local Versaflex rep has told the operator that this is not recommended. The issue is that it then becomes very difficult to judge how much cement to pump in order to ensure that there is cement in the liner lap.
- Comments ?
Thanks
Dave
