Slip crushing in 2 7/8 Drill pipe
14 February 2019Dear Forum
Ee are planing a TTRD well using 20.000 ft of 2 7/8 10.4 # XT 27 connection (3. 3/8" OD) drill pipe.
The tecnhical data sheet says that the conventional elevator could be used to lift only 53.000 pounds. the recommendation is to use lift nubbins, but that means double number of connections (A lot of time and money). we are trying to find a slip elevator but it's not recommended because could cause slip crushing problem due to the string weight is 198.000 pounds.
According to your experience, what would be the maximum length of this kind of pipe that could be run using slip elevators without having problems?
Thankyou
Jose
