P&A - appraisal well for deepwater

I would like to understand how P&A of appraisal wells for deepwater is normally conducted. After drilling an appraisal well, is temporarily supsended expecting the well will be somehow utilized in the phase of drilling production wells and/or completion operation? Or do you normally conduct permanent P&A for the appraisal well? Maybe it depends on the situation but your kind advice would be kindly appreciated.
