Sidetracking in deep, hard, hot formations.
07 November 2009 Gents,Situation is;
9 5/8" 2 4200m.
Temperature 160 deg C.
Mud weight 18 ppg.
Formation - hard (1m per hour).
The rig was drilling ahead in 8 1/2" and twisted off. Tried various fishing attemps with no success.
Abondoned and attempted sidetrack.
Unable to get a hard enough cement plug to sidetrack off (tried various recipes and even Hematite plug with no success).
Also tried a "Gilligan" but drilled the cement instead.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can sidetrack this well?
Cased hole whipstock is not an option due to the weaker formation just above the shoe.
I am thinking open hole whipstock....
Comments please gents.
Very best regards..........Hendo.
