Dual Completion Running

Does anyone know of a safe method of temporarily separating dual tubing strings to allow engaging the tubing tong while running completion? Our tubular running service provider supplies a 2-handled lever device that requires 2 men to operate safely, but there is a lot of stored energy and potential for injury if inadvertently released.
