Sand control in water injection wells.
21 April 2011 Folks,I would be interested to hear what your individual company (or relevant personal experience) is with the design of lower completions in water injection wells.
Specifically I was thinking about what policy or selection criteria you adopt for either using active downhole sand control or going with a cased and perforated completion with an extended sump to capture any produced solids caused by water hammer or cross flow effects during hard shut ins. Does anyone have a policy of going belt and braces with gravel packing or are there guidelines for when to go from a cased and perforated design to some form of compliant sand control (based on formation strength and so on). There are some very good SPE papers on the subject but I was looking for company and individual experience.
Thanks
Marc
