Installation of SCSSV in offshore well
09 June 2011 Dear ProfessionalWe are installing Surface controlled Sub surface safety valves in offshore wells. SCSSV are primarily purchased from reputed international manufacturer i.e. M/S BAKER, SCHLUMBERGER, WEATHERFORD & HALLIBURTON along with SCSSV accessories (Control lines & fitting etc.). Sometimes SCSSV are found to be malfunctioning due to non-communication of hydraulic pressure in SCSSV resulting in PLO (Permanent Lock Opening).
This is due to mainly following reasons:
1. Making of improper swage connection at wellhead exit.
2. Making of improper swage connection at SCSSV entry point.
3. Failure of Hydraulic Chamber seals.
Equipment pressure rating are 5000 psi Working pressure . Whether leaking of inlet connection at SCSSV and exit connection at wellhead can be avoiding by using high pressure ration for control line & swage connection or any following some foolproof procedure for installation of SCSSV.
Feedback are expected from international operators on this critical issue specially installation of control line.
