Preliminary Casing design
25 November 2013 Hello everyone,Im a pretroleum engineering student studying the drilling course. We had a question regarding case design as follows:

we draw a mud weight curve with a 200-400psi trip margin and and a safety margin if 0.3ppg of the fracture pressure.
I would set the shoe for the production casing where the reservoir is (~9700ft), then draw a line vertically to reach the safety margin of the fracture pressure and that would be the shoe for the next intermediate casing (~5800ft). However, is it a good idea to keep the shoe above the potential lost zone?
Following the same pattern, the surface casing will be at about 1500ft.
Is this the ideal casing design? Any input, comments would be appreciated.
