Platform Conductor Fatigue Study

10 February 2015

The responsibility for well design is normally the drilling team's, however well integrity issues are the responsibility of different parties within an operating company, each responsible for different aspects of integrity.

Has anybody any experience of performing conductor fatigue studies to look at the structural integrity over the long in service usage of platform conductors.

These studies would typically look at the hydrodynamic loads, external loads i.e wellheads, BOP, HWU and internal loads due to casing and tubing. These loads would then be used to analyze for the 3 main failure modes of - strength, stability and fatigue.

Are such studies useful/necessary or not? routinely done? under what circumstances?
