Gas leakage thru logging cable

Dear All!
During the sampling job we observed gas coming out of lubricator, we closed the logging BOP but gas was still coming. We cancelled the job and pulled the tools out the hole. Later we checked the cable and found gas bubbling on the cable surface.
Has anyone experienced  the same situation? Reasons for it?
