BOP Pressure Test

Good morning gents,

In my previous Co. in Jack-Up or Floaters it was common to perform BOP test with a the string (some DP and the BHA) hanging below the Test Plug (of course with the Bit inside casing). 
I would like to do the same now in a Surface Stack, but I can't find documents to support such operation, other than the Well Control Manual of the Operators that has such practices.
Can anyone has some API Standards/Recommended Practics or Wellhead Manuals for the Hang-off weight for certain pressure test to be applied?
