Conductor
30 December 2025We recently had a connector failure on a joint of 30" x 1" WT conductor.
We had driven the conductor a few weeks previously in an open water location in approx 40m of water depth. We were abandoning the well and had cut the conductor 7m below seabed.
The weather picked up and the conductor couldn't be retrieved, consequently it was left hanging under its own weight from 2 slings connected to the hoisting equipment. After approx 24 hrs WOW a connector parted 2 joints from the top, just above sealevel, a number of the connectors below sealevel were seen to have backed off slightly.
The anti-rotation keys were seen to be missing on a number of joints including the parted connector, no visible damage appeared to be on the parted pin connector.
A thorough investigation is underway but it would be usefull to know if anybody has seen or heard of similar experiences?
