String reciprocation during cement job

Hi folks

At a recent DWOP that we facilitated, one of the break-out groups was tasked with getting into the details of casing running & cementation.

They recommended pipe movement during cementation to improve the likelihood of getting a good cement bond.  Not just rotation, but reciprocation.

My paradigm (mind-set) from years offshore is that reciprocation could lead to regret if unable to get back down to 'bottom' on the down-stroke. This would result in failing to land the mandrel hanger in the unitised wellhead.

However, this is a land-rig with a 'A', 'B' and 'C' sections; casing will be cut and slip-type hanger installed.

What are other well teams doing? Are you reciprocating your casing during cementation and, if so:

1. Have you been able to determine improvements in cement bond quality?
2. What casing accessories (centralisers) do you use ?
3. What precautions do you take?
4. What problems (and lessons learnt) do you have ?
5. What recommendations would you make (best practice?
