Deep Water Abandonments - leaving the wellhead
20 January 2014Hi
I am looking for offset data on operators/service companies who have experience in abandoning subsea wells but not cutting and pulling the wellhead. There have been many discussions over the last several years and some operators are already doing it. Oil & Gas UK Guidelines quote
"Redundant subsea equipment must not present a hazard to other users of the sea.
It is also seen as good practice to retrieve all casing strings to a minimum of 10 ft below seabed. This requirement mainly exists to accommodate fishing activities in the area after the well has been abandoned."
What is your experience especially in areas not suitable for DW trawling?
Thanks
Harry
