Subsea Well - Internal TA Cap Removal
10 September 2018
Hi!

I have a general question about pulling a 13-3/8" FMC internal TA cap in a MLS system (20" x 13-3/8").  The running tool indicates 7,000 ft-lbs of torque is required for retrieval of the cap.  Can anyone please confirm what range of torque to expect when actually going to pull one of these that has been installed for 5-10 years?  The wells are in 80-100m WD.

Thanks for any info!

let me retract my statement of 2-4 kft.lb torque to release the 13 3/8" TA cap. Looking back into the files I actually found pout the torque applied was around 10 k ft.lb

October 2018 we P & A'ed a well with a MLS. Removal of the 13 3/8" TA cap (Vetco) was with no problem, despite the concerns be4 the job (due to lack of corrosion inhibitor in this well temporary suspended in 2015) the LH 2 TPI LH thread corrosion cap released with less than 2-4 kft lb. Manual said 2.5 ft.lb to MU this cap.
Hope it helps
