MLS tieback for P&A operations

We're working on the design and planning of the decommissioning (P&A) of some MLS suspended wells. For tieback from the MLS we're evaluating what the best approach would be and our assessment comes to a single string from the 9 5/8" production casing with a HW tieback string to the rig.

Most offset operations however show multiple string tied back with three or even four strings, including a conductor pipe.

What is in your view the benefit of tying back multiple, or all, strings? And what would be the drawback of the single string approach?
