6" hole drilling problems
10 February 2010 Dear Members,We experienced pipe stuck in driling 6" hole at 10453ft. We feel that to continue driling will be impractical and very costly with the very high risk of failure again, given the fact that:
1.The well has been stuck many times with many problems of lost inholes, already sidetrack four times.
2. we have conducted the jar- up and jar down up to 730 times and the well is still stuck.
3.Current hole size is 6" with many doglegs.
The next action we discussed are:
1.Run Free point indicator (FPI) to investigate the free pipe as well as stuck pipe and then
2. "back off " the well as deep as possible.
3.recover as much as possible the drill string.
After accomplishing the recovery of the drill string, there will be some fish left in hole. And therefore to our opinion it will be close to impossible to recover "the drill bit and drill string" efficiently and practically.
For our "way forward", we would value your ideas and opinions.
Best regards
