Running 7 5/8" Liner String on a spear
23 August 2007 We envisage having to run 7-5/8" liner in 9-5/8" casing. Thechallenge is the issues associated with the small annular clearance
between the liner hanger and the ID of the 9-5/8"(8.681). The small
annular clearance means that any cuttings that are circulated during
the running in and reaming will not be able to pass the restriction
easily. Furthermore, the small clearance poses risks with running
the liner to bottom with excessive piston effect forces due to
friction.
We are considering using a spear to run the string and wonder if
someone can share their experiences of running a liner this way.
