Logging with losses
31 July 2014 Hi folksAnother one to get us all thinking.
We're looking at a well that will use PMCD (Pressurised Mud Cap Drilling) to drill a gas reservoir in a carbonate section.
Once the well has been successfully drilled, the plan is to conduct conventional wireline-conveyed logging. There's a logging adaptor for the RCD (Rotating Control device) which will allow us to R/U Pressure-Control Equipment (PCE) but we are considering that we won't need PCE if the well is stable.
However we then got to talking about 'conventional' wells where MPD equipment won't have been installed. and the question is ....... "what level of losses would be considered acceptable to go conventional logging (no PCE)?".
We'd be interested in the views of our wise members.
Thanks
Dave
