Qualification Testing of Drill Pipe Float Valves
15 April 2015 A client asked about using an insert style drill pipe float valve contained in an appropriate sub in a liner or casing string instead of a cement float collar. It is an un-cemented application. Their client is asking for the valve to be to API 10F, the cementing equipment recommended qualification and testing standard, but this does not cover drill pipe float valves. Does anyone know what API standard applies to insert type float valves along the lines of API 10F. We cannot find one. We are looking for the formal API Recommended Procedure or API Specification that covers the testing and qualification of these insert float valves, not standards that cover the materials used to construct them.
