Drilling Equipment Surface System Pressure Loss Rates (Leak Rates) with Digital Gauges
14 August 2017
When transitioning to the use of digital data to record: surface equipment, pressure tests, casing pressure tests, FITs/LOTs etc, digital data always records a small pressure decline rate between 1-10psi per minute compared to the “straight-line” pressure hold displayed by analogue manometers and chart recorders.
Can anyone offer any industry standards / guidelines /best practices as to what would be an acceptable pressure loss rate for such tests utilising digital gauges?
Also grateful for general opinions of what criteria should be considered with establishing an acceptable background pressure loss rate.
thanks in advance
