Blockchain - what am I missing?

17 April 2019 Greetings fellow spreaders.

In trying to keep up with various technical developments while I'm twiddling my thumbs, I have read a couple of articles on the potential use of blockchain IT technology on Rigs.

After wading through the "management speak" and "let's use ten words where one will do" style of writing, at the end of the article I've always been left distinctly underwhelmed.

What am I missing?

Or is it another technology that isn't really relevant, but Management are jumping onto the bandwagon, because that's what everyone else seems to be doing?
