Extended Flanged Outlet

Generally the side outlets of the casing heads are manufactured in short style close to the body of the wellhead. But there are some engineering extended neck flanged outlets fabricated on the spools for oil and gas well control services. Question is that what is the  reason and any advantage of this kind side outlets operationally?
