Mud volume calculations
02 January 2025Mud volume calculations: Either Hole Washout factor to be multiplied by hole size or the volume.
Whenever engineer design mud volumes, for open hole volume, hole washout factor must be considered. Now I observed some companies applying factor to hole size, while some simply multiplies the open hole volume. What is the correct approach.
Option A: (((Hole size^2)*(washout percentage/100)/1029.4)*depth
Or
Option B: (((Hole size^2)/1029.4)*(washout percentage/100)*depth
